Dedicated to one of the greatest composers for viola da gamba who ever lived, Marin Marais.

The violagambist, son of a shoemaker, who, as Hubert Le Blanc wrote in 1740 "avoit été déclaré jouer comme un ange", rose from humility to the top of the musical ladder at the French court thanks to his talent and his adaptation to his milieu. The success of his five books for viola da gamba testifies that his music was not only loved by Versailles, but also fascinated the Parisian bourgeoisie, inevitable imitators of the ways of the court of the courts.
